The Camm EquiTone preamplifier
A no nonsense fully automatic integrated preamplifier with several unique features. Input is via a virtual earth operational amplifier which allows one to bypass any input selector switches that add unnecessary noise to the low input signal and provides a high input impedance for the source so that it’s output opamp does not go into class B (all c.d players), causing distortion and other anomalies. All tone and volume controls are electronically operated and at no stage does the input signal pass through any scratchy or noisy potentiometers. This means that no headroom is lost, as happens with just about all preamp's that first attenuate the signal i.e. using the traditional 10K pot on the input as a so called volume control and then boosting the signal through an opamp back to sufficient drive levels which unfortunately boosts any noise and distortion at the same time. Facilities include outputs for surround sound and tape deck. Inputs include DVD player, television/video recorder/satellite decoder, radio, phono cartridges as well as one auxiliary input.
